Electrical Design Engineer, Wind Power

Responsibilities:
As part of the Engineering team and reporting to the Engineering Manager the role is to provide power systems design support to the development and construction teams working on US and Canadian wind farm projects.
Wind farm MV collection system design, including the selection the cable routes and cable sizing calculations.
Power systems studies (load flow, short circuit, losses, voltage rise).
The management of all other study work and electrical calculations, which will require a good level of computer literacy.
Liaise with experts to establish the interconnection requirements and ensure that the wind farm will comply.
Equipment specification (cable, transformers, power factor correction equipment etc).
Detailed functional technical specification for substation designs and builds contracts.
Functional technical specification for transmission line design and build contracts.
Preparation of scopes of work and subsequent management of protection and communications consultants.
Collation of system data from client, utility, suppliers, contractors etc. for system modeling purposes.
Preparation of functional one-line drawings of both grid interconnection and collection system for interconnection applications.
General electrical engineering support to the US team.
Familiarity with and ability to stay current regarding changing regulatory requirements.
Understanding of contract terms and ability to recognize discrepancies.
Qualifications:
1-5 years experience in Power System Planning.
Registered Professional Engineer or working toward registration within 3 years.
Applicant should have experience performing studies with any power system simulation software.
Needs expertise and the necessary skills to interface with the Client and will be instrumental in delivering on time cost effective projects.
Analytical work with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Able to prioritize work.
Ability to travel, less than 10%.
Minimum 5 years of Management experience.
Skilled in MSOffice and Outlook.
Education: MS and/or BS Engineering degree in Power Systems or PLC
