Caribbean Sol Biodegradable Sunscreen Gets Strong Safety Rating From Environmental Working Group

Reef-safe natural sunscreen available at retailers nationwide and http://www.caribbean-sol.com

(CSRwire) ORLANDO, FL - July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Caribbean Solutions'
(http://www.caribbean-sol.com) biodegradable sunscreen, Caribbean Sol SolGuard SPF 25 and Kids Kare 25, has earned high marks from the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Cosmetics Safety Database (http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com).

Caribbean Sol SolGuard SPF 25 natural sunscreen rated a 1 -- one of just 44 sun products, out of 952 tested, to rank so low in harm and high in effectiveness.

On Tuesday, the Environmental Working Group said that 4 out of 5 sunscreens (of 952 tested) "offer inadequate protection from the sun, or contain ingredients with significant safety concerns." Offenders included the nation's best-selling sun products.

Caribbean Sol Icy Relief Gel, a cooling after-sun product with organic aloe vera, tea tree oil and eucalyptus oil, rated a 2.

Caribbean Solutions joined EWG's Campaign for Safe Cosmetics to help people find out what's really in their personal care products. "Most people believe that the ingredients in their sunscreen have been approved by regulators, but that's not true," said Bruce Shanks, president of Caribbean Solutions. "Even products labeled 'natural' and sold in health-food stores can contain chemicals known to cause cancer or damage to marine life."

Caribbean Sol products contain no avobenzone, oxybenzone, cinnamates, parabens, artificial fragrance or other petrochemicals. All Caribbean Solutions products are formulated with the natural mineral sunblocks titanium dioxide and transparent zinc oxide, plant extracts such as wild pansy and green coffee bean, and essential oil fragrance.

Travelers, divers, surfers and sailors are concerned about the scientific link between dying coral reefs and the estimated 4,000 to 6,000 tons of sunscreen that wash off swimmers every year. Parents, summer fun seekers and outdoor enthusiasts worry about the harmful chemicals in drugstore sunscreen.

Many cruise lines, resorts and marine preserves require guests to wear biodegradable sunscreen. Sold for years at resorts and dive sites in Mexico, Florida and Hawaii, Caribbean Solutions can be found at Amazon.com, Whole Foods Market in the northeast and natural retailers nationwide. Suggested retail is $14.99 for 6 ounces. For more information, call
